Website relaunch - A Focus on Prints
Here we are, the end of 2023
Whoever chooses a path in the creative arts needs to be aware that there are always choices to be made - photography is no different. As a generalist in life this is something that has also been reflected in my photographic output; specialists tell me this is much to my detriment and indeed as they plough the deep furrows of their niches for the past 10 years I’ve skated between genres by taking commissions as a commercial photographer in segments as broad as portraiture, food and interiors whilst also developing a body of work as a fine art photographer selling prints - either via galleries or as private sales. As we come to the close of 2023 I’ve taken a decision to focus my attentions on the creation of prints, which is something that is reflected in the reorganisation of this website.
Mount Kazbeg is a highlight of many people’s visit to Georgia. There’s something magical about high mountains with such prominence - a full 1000 metres+ higher than anything in the Alps Kazbeg is majestic and memorable. There are many photographs of this mountain back over the past 150 years of photography yet probably not all that many where the mountain is lit by a full moon.
Available as a First Release in A2 & A3 sizes exclusively
I’m pleased to be able to offer prints such as this one of Mount Kazbeg under a Full Moon which represents a highlight of my work late this year. This was taken after an annual party held by my good friends at Georgia Adventure Club who use photos I’ve created to promote their tours - if you’re looking for safe and responsible guides to show you the amazing places Georgia has to offer then these are your people - please tell them I sent you.
Sometimes nature loves simplicity - that’s what this tulips photo is all about, just beautiful contrast and colours and textures you can enjoy day after day. This print is available in A2, A3 and A4 sizes as an open edition - whether it’s for your home of a gift it will surely give a lot of pleasure.
At the same time I’m also free to sell compositions like “Tulips” as an affordable piece to brighten up your living space - I’ve had this on my wall a few years and I never get tired of seeing the beautiful textures of the leaves and petals; believe it or not this was taken as a test-shot whilst setting up a food shoot and yes, it’s absolutely only natural light.
Back at the very beginnings of the Fotografia Gallery in Tbilisi simple pour-over filter coffees were served, I used to go in there to chat with Gela about cameras and film and stuff, as it happened I’d just bought a Hasselblad 500CM 6x6 medium format camera to try and this was the first shot I took, loaded with Ilford FP4 Film I figured I could just about hold a 1/30th of a second which would be what I needed to gather enough light on the film with the lens aperture wide open - turns out I was right and we can all relate to the relaxed vibes of this minimalist monochrome homage to our love of coffee.

If you prefer something more low key then this timeless shot of a V60 taken on Ilford Film on my old Hasselblad might be something you enjoy - this is another shot I’ve had on my walls a few years - I just love the beautiful grain and tonality of this film when shot through a classic Carl Zeiss lens.
In Georgian Culture the 2nd January is called Bedoba which roughly translated could mean “day of destiny” - the idea being whatever you do on this day you’ll continue the whole year. With the air crisp and fresh I set out from my Apartment in Vera to explore the empty city. Not far into my walk I found this reflection in what is now the door of a famous restaurant, I had to make like a flamingo on one leg to get this shot and not be in the reflection - as you can see: I managed and we have this quintessential Tbilisi-photo that you just know couldn’t be anywhere else.
Another print that might work well as a present for someone who loves Tbilisi could be “Blue Door” which is actually the door of a famous Tbilisi Restaurant taken in the depths of midwinter - which is why the skies are so clear and the blues so blue
Tbilisi is really a dream for street photography, because there's so much life on the streets, and the colours are extremely vibrant, when compared with the more muted tones of developed economies. There's a particular vibrance to be filmed down at the dry Bridge market, which happens every day when the weather is dry and sells a variety of antiques and memorabilia from days gone by. However, sometimes trade is not so fast and here we find some traders indulging in a quick game of backgammon.
This Fine Art Print is available as an Open Edition in sizes A1, A2, A3 and A4 - All prints are made on archival grade Hahnemuhle Art Paper and printed using Epson Premium Archival Inks to guarantee stunning clarity and quality.

As a contrast to the Blue Door there’s not much that’s as bursting with life as the scene of the Dry Bridge Antiques market which is pleasurably chaotic and overflowing with vibrant colours
The tallest building in London standing some 309.6m designed by Renzo Piano. The Shard standing south of the river Thames represents a new London, this image is taken along the river from the Tate Modern gallery where it is unfortunately no longer possible to access. The calming grey skies are reflected in the glass, this print is enjoyable as part of any interior design incorporating modernist elements. Available as a First Edition in A2 size as an open edition.
